The Printers Mysore

The Printers Mysore is a parent company to Deccan Herald and Prajavani. We were commissioned to redesign their brand mark– the Nandi that forms part of their logo. The Nandi is revered and the old form is firmly lodged in the minds of their readers. The brief was to keep it as close to the older version, but improve upon the form so that it may be reproduced in various print sizes and also various techniques. The readers were opposed to drastic or even very visible changes. This turned out to be an exercise in restraint and really focusing on details and tweaking them. The new logo is versatile, has a web friendly version and can be applied to everything from stationery to signage. The type to be paired with the redesigned logo had to be carefully considered, as it would have to work on various formats. Both English and Kannada versions of the type were designed.
